How will they ever reach the hospital? Pepijn and his grandma will not give up!

Working process

Character design, storyboard and sketches

When I start with a visualisation I begin with the main characters, in different positions. When I feel the character is coming to life, I color it. The next step is making a storyboard for the whole picture book. I cut the story in scenes and search for good ways to visualize what happens. I like dynamic compositions and much variety. When the publisher, the writer and I are all satisfied, I start drawing a big sketch of every spread in the exact size of the book.
